Discover your Inner Hunter-Gatherer for Bargains
Who doesn't love a good bargain or discount? This is where you can make shopping fun! Think of it as finding treasure. When you are shopping whether for clothes, groceries, or even food for you cat (cat deserves discounts too) be sure to look for good coupons or a good discount because these are hidden gems! Additionally, be sure to ask the salesperson or the associate or even look online for the gems just in case you don't see any displayed at the stores. Just try your very best to not get caught up in the aisles with clearance items. You do NOT need 22 cans of half priced corn!
2. Do you Need to Spend that Much on Coffee?
I mean seriously, coffee has gotten to the point it's costing just as much as your cell phone bill. And I'm sure you spend most of the time on the phone telling people how much you love your coffee from so and so (I'm never wrong about these things), however that is why it necessary to rethink that frequent coffee run. Start making your coffee at home and you will save quite a bit, and quite a bit goes a long way especially in this economy. Another benefit to that is you can put as much milk and sugar as you want because some coffee shops may try to charge more just to shortchange you on those things you like. Make that change. Save money. Be your own barista!
3. Trim the Fat from Your Monthly Subscriptions
Look over your subscriptions and see the ones that just simply collecting dust. Once you find those get rid of them. You don't need every subscription service known to man and I'm certain you don't need all 537 streaming services. Audit those subscriptions and get rid of the ones you don't you as soon as possible and that includes the discovery channel talking about "unicorns in the wild".
4. Let's Adjust that Dining Budget (Eating Out Should Not Be a Luxury)
Eating out is great-until it's the same price as the mortgage and electric bill. Let's rethink Taco-Tuesday's and switch it to Cook-Home Monday's. If it's costing way too much to dine in at a restaurant then start to cook the very food that you like the most or you would like to try. What's also nice about it that you have leftovers for the very next day, and I mean who doesn't like leftovers of their favorite food?
5. DIY and Upcycling: Because Making Things Yourself Is More Fun Than Buying New Stuff
Do you have some old jars and glitter? You can now make your new lamp instead of buying one from a retail store. Not only will you save money, but you can now tap into your creative side and possibly make that creative side into a creative side-hustle. You'll be making money as well as saving money. Double the fun!
6. Set Realistic Goals (Because Winning the Lottery Doesn't Happen for Everybody)
Why would you set a goal to save $1000 a week when you could possibly be struggling to make that much? Maybe aim for smaller milestones first. Start with saving a few bucks here and there, and before you know it, you’ll be closer to that elusive ‘financial stability’ without needing a lottery win (although if you did win the lottery, you wouldn't probably need to read this blog about budgeting, but you'll be reading about investments).
7. Learn to Love the Sales and Deals: The New Habit of Bargain Shopping
Embrace your inner sale spy. Watch for those clearance events like they’re the season finale of your favorite show. And remember, just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean you need it. But if it’s 80% off, well, we can make room for it.
Conclusion
